5 Ways Physical Therapy Can Help!

Physical therapists work to preserve, enhance, or restore movement and physical function. Physical therapy may be necessary for those recovering after an illness, injury, surgery or chronic condition. It can help reduce pain and speed up the recovery process by improving mobility, strength and balance.

Here are some ways physical therapy may help you:

Improve Mobility and Reduce Pain. If you’re having trouble standing, walking or moving — physical therapy can help. Therapists customize care plans that can restore muscle and joint function, reducing pain and improving mobility.

Manage Diabetes and Vascular Conditions. If you have diabetes, physical therapy can help you control your blood sugar through exercise. Diabetes may also cause a person to lose sensation in their feet and legs. Physical therapists can help you to regain sensation and prevent further problems.

Improve Balance and Prevent Falls. If you have fallen or are at high risk for falls, therapists will provide exercises that will help you improve coordination and problems stemming from the vestibular system.

Manage Age-related Issues. Osteoporosis and arthritis are common ailments for seniors. Physical therapists can help you recover from joint pain, joint replacements, and manage these conditions.

Manage Heart and Lung Conditions. After suffering a heart attack or having surgery you may need physical therapy to regain strength and daily function. If you suffer from a pulmonary condition, physical therapy can help improve breathing and clear fluid from the lungs.

Physical therapists work hard to help patients retain and regain their quality of life. Speak with your doctor to find out how a therapy treatment plan could benefit you!

It’s great that this article explains how physical therapy can help with mobility issues as well as age-related problems, such as osteoporosis and arthritis. When choosing a physical therapist, you’d probably want to consider what you need them for, such as a sports injury or if you’re diabetic. Doing this could help you find a professional who has the experience and skills to provide the care and treatment you need to help with your situation.

That is nice that physical therapy can help restore muscle function. Maybe it would be good to get more muscle function so I could have reduced pain. Getting physical therapy is something I will have to look into getting sometime soon.

I found it interesting when you said that physical therapy can help reduce pain and speed up the recovery process by improving mobility, strength, and balance. One of my friends trains martial arts and he had an injury a couple of months ago in his lower back and right knee. He lasted a few days to be able to walk. I appreciate you helping me learn more about how physical therapy can help this kind of injuries, I will let him know that it can restore muscle and joint function, reducing pain and improving mobility as you mentioned.

it’s good to know that physical therapy can help you improve your coordination. My mom is getting older, and she’s noticed that she doesn’t have as much control over the movement of her arms as she used to. I’ll pass this information along to her so that she can look further into her options for physical therapists who can help her restore some of her coordination.

My dad used to play a lot of sports when he was younger and then into his 30s. Those times are catching up to him as he’s told me that he’s having some problems with his knees. As you said here, a physical therapist would be able to help him improve his mobility and reduce the pain he is having. Knowing that there are multiple to choose from, I’m sure he’ll want to find one that has experience.

Thanks for mentioning that physical therapy can help you improve your coordination if you have a history or risk of falling. My dad is getting older, and he actually took a little bit of a fall last month that has us concerned. I will be sure to recommend he look into local physical therapy services around him so that he can benefit from the coordination improving exercises that they provide.

Wow, I had no idea that physical therapy can help you if you are having a hard time standing, and that the professional will customize a plan for your case. My dad was recently involved in a fall and he broke his hip, so he has been in bed for a few weeks. He is afraid of having to move once he completely heals, so I told him I would find him a local professional that could help him with this problem.

Physical therapy is gaining popularity due to effectiveness against certain types of health-related disorders related to muscle and bone. Physical therapy does have several applications and could be used to treat a bone dislocation, joint pain, and issues in the ligaments and other muscular tissues. However, a person should only hire certified and skilled professionals for better outcomes.

It’s great that you mentioned that physical therapy can help you improve your joint function. My mother is getting surgery on her knee soon, and I imagine that it could make the joint in her knee weaker for a while. It might be a good idea for my mom to do some physical therapy while she is recovering.

I like that you talked about how physical therapy will help us with joint pain, replacements, and other conditions we need to manage. Personally, I might have joint issues when I get older because of my right knee’s weird shape. And I hope that getting a therapy as early as now can prevent that as well as continuing the treatment over time.
