Frequently Asked Questions for New Graduates & Students:

Q. What support is available for new graduates?
A. Every therapist has been where you are now.  HTS knows the value of support from other therapists and manager for our new graduates.  That is why we provide a mentorship program for all new graduates that will offer you support, allow you to build confidence in your skills, and help you to build confidence in your skills and help you to achieve your professional goals after college, and into your future.
Q. Do you offer travel reimbursement for relocation?
A. We have travel stipends available for our employees that are relocating to take a position with HTS.  The amount of the compensation package will fluctuate depending on the amount of travel involved.
Q. After I graduate, how does the licensure process work?
A. At HTS, we understand how confusing and time consuming obtaining state licensure can be for new graduates.  We have a licensure liaison that is dedicated to assist all HTS therapists step by step through the licensure process for your state.
Q. Can I work on a temporary license at HTS?
A. After graduation, we know you are eager to start working as soon as possible.  Depending on your discipline and the state regulations, you may qualify to start work immediately after graduation prior to passing your boards.  At HTS, we provide supervision that will allow new graduates to work on a temp license under direct supervision of a therapist.  The benefit of this is…MONEY (of course)…but also to learn and gain experience in the field prior to taking your exam.
Q. What positions do you have available for new graduates?
A. HTS provides therapy services to over 90 facilities throughout Indiana & Kentucky in a variety of settings.  To find out what locations are currently seeking full-time or part-time staff, please contact our recruiting department to speak with an HTS recruiter.
Q. What is PRN?
A. With over 90 facilities and 500 employees, HTS is responsible for providing coverage for employee illness, vacation, maternity leave, etc.  We call PRN employees to help us cover our patient caseloads when the need arises.  When we have a need for coverage, we have a list of therapists that have agreed to work PRN at a particular facility.  We continue to contact every therapist on our PRN list until we find someone available and willing to help cover our patients.
Q. When should I sign up for PRN?
A. We are always looking to hire PRN employees for all of our HTS facilities, however, we recommend that a new graduate should work in the field for at least 90 days before signing up for PRN. Typically, PRN coverage is needed in the evenings or weekends, and at this time the therapy staff is not in the department.  Therefore, we suggest you become confident in your training & skills and wait to do PRN until you are able to work independently without support from other therapists.
Q. If I am interested in Long Term Care & Outpatient, which setting will offer more compensation?
A. Overall, a new graduate can expect to make more money on the hour working in a Long Term Care setting versus working in any other setting in the industry.
Q. If I am interested in a position with HTS, when should I send in my resume?
A. We would love to talk with you ASAP about career opportunities with HTS.  If we have a full-time position available that you are interested in, we can start interviewing candidates up to 90 days prior to your available start date.  We encourage you to send us your resume as soon as you start your career searching, so we can discuss company information, job benefits, and current open positions with you.
Q. Do you allow students to arrange observation days at HTS facilities?
A. All of our HTS facilities are open to have students visit and observe our therapy departments.  If you are interested in learning what facilities we have in your area, please contact our collegiate representative at 800-486-4449 x102.
